I often get told ‘you have it all sorted’, ‘you never have a bad day’, ‘everything seems to land in your lap’.
I’ll let you in on a secret. It’s not true.
I probably look like I’ve got it all together but that’s because I’ve had to admit when I needed help. I’ve worked tirelessly behind the scenes when things ‘land in my lap’. And I definitely have bad days.
The biggest life lesson has to be learning to be vulnerable. It’s OK to not be OK. None of us are 100 percent OK all of the time. Sometimes things are really not-OK.
I’ve learnt that when we start accepting our own limitations — our own “not-OKness” — that’s when we start making changes for the better. We embrace the small improvements that add up over time.
Learning to treat myself with more compassion and evolve past an “all or nothing” attitude has been difficult for me. Moderation is a skill I will probably take a lifetime to master!
I guess we are all perfectly imperfect
